TThe upside of those "classic" novels

Honestly the only reason I ever look forward to reading a classic novel is that fact that i don't have to legit read it from cover to cover. SparkNotes is reading without really reading thats how I think is the best way to describe it in my own words. I think SparkNotes is a good idea for reading incredibly long novels and you can not follow what is happening in the book. But you should only sparknote a few chapters if you are behind on reading. Sparknotes should be used used along with the reading to help you better understand the text you are reading. Sparknotes only focus on the main points in the story not the novel as a whole.

SparkNotes take away from the experience of reading the book for yourselves. Sparknoting is good in the way it can help you focus on the main points of a chapter. But is also bad because of that same reason because that is the only thing you get from the spark notes. Sparknotes take away from the actual reading because you just have the climax of the the chapter and very little or nothing leading you up to that point.

  1. Hi, from Fremd. I personally love reading classic novels. In my free time, I mostly read books from the 1800s or early 1900s. I do agree that Sparknotes is a good way to understand something that is confusing. I don't recommend it though since I find it much more satisfying to finish the book and reread the confusing parts to get clarification. But then again, it's probably just because I enjoy classic novels.

  2. Hi, I'm Amy from Fremd. I think classic novels are kind of a hit or miss for me, sometimes I love them and sometimes I can't stand them. However, I try to avoid using SparkNotes if I can, because it seems like it's not really learning. I usually use SparkNotes after I've done the reading to make sure I understood the key points, because SparkNotes does leave out some important details.

  3. Hey, I'm Michael from Fremd. I agree it is gruesome to read old time book, especially when they are very hard to understand. I know it's hard to get into the book, but yeah you still have to read it and try to the best of your ability to understand. When you don't figure any of it out, that's when you resort to SparkNotes. That's what I do and it's an amazing way to challenge yourself and see how much you actually understood.
